First Big Snow

Dave rented Horton Hears A Who and surprised the kids with it. We all sat in the dark and cuddled. The kids went to bed an hour and a half past their bedtime. Pretty cool stuff!
Poor Lily hasn't been feeling all that hot this last week but she's finally coming out of her funk in time for her birthday party tomorrow. I've told the kids that they have to let her play with toys tomorrow. We will see.
Lils doing laundry for me. She is getting so big that now she can reach the buttons on the washing and drying machines and she can reach the doorknobs now. Oh boy!
Luke stayed out extra long (I had to bait him back inside...his little cheeks were so red)
"One day Brother, I will be as cool as you and as big as you and I will play outside with you. One day"
She fell and this is when she realized that she could make a pattern. Tomorrow, if time and weather allows, I will show her how to do a snow angel.
Happy to be outside in the snow that I had been promising her for two weeks now.
Lily rather irritated that she couldn't go outside. No, she isn't this pale - I think it was the snow reflecting off her face.

Ya, isn't she beautiful?

They think it's funny to NOT look at the camera when I am desperately pleading for them to. Adorable.
Running having so much fun.

The first go around in the early morning. Emmy's face cracks me up in the one below...what the heck is going on here Mom?

Today we woke up to a bunch of white stuff on the ground. So, at 7:45 in the morning, Luke was so excited to go outside he brought me his choo choo sandals so that he could go outside. When I told him he would be too cold he ignored me and marched outside. As soon as his little toes touched the snow, he started hollering, "Cold! Cold!" I then spent what seemed like an hour getting the kids dressed and let them go outside for about 5 whole minutes of play. We had to do it today because by Tuesday the cold will be 26 below zero. (And yes, Luke has one of Emma's hats under his coat...he realized this later and informed me that it was not right for me to put Emmy's hat on Choo Choo Guy.) The kid's head would have been cold! Geeze! They went out later in the day and actually played. Emmy went down the slide in the snow and Luke made a couple baskets and made some snowballs. Surprisingly, neither of them tried to eat it.

What great pics. We got snow the other day here, but not like that. I think I would like it like that. It would be better to play in the snow when it is more than a light covering.

The kids look like they had a ton of fun.

Cute pictures of the kids playing in the snow. I got a kick out of the picture of Emma giving you a dirty look; she was probably wondering why Luke got to wear gloves and she had to wear SOCKS.

Aunt Char would say it's kind of like the time we went to the snow in Auburn and Brian wore a nice, warm snowsuit and Melissa wore PJs!

Yes, but you will notice way that each mother placed the PURPLE socks on to mimic gloves and the PURPLE pajamas to mimic the snowsuit. How very loving.

Just a note...why is it that on Emma's picture with the make believe gloves she has a face that says, "Oh my gosh, mom, do you think I'm brand new? Do you really mean to tell me you think this is going to work? How long do you think it'll take me to notice?" And then on Melissa's picture with her ever-so-pretty purple pajamas in the 6 feet snow she is absolutely so excited that she doesn't realize that in about 3 1/2 minutes she will begin to cry and her brother, while very snug and warm in his snowsuit, gleefully goes about enjoying the coldness. Why? Because he doesn't know it's cold!! Oh, the joys of childhood and motherhood and aunthood for that mattter!
